Our magic key!!!

This week we have been writing stories using our magic keys. We have to use our key to imagine where it takes us to, and then describe the setting using all our fantastic wow words, connectives and openers to really draw in the reader.

Here is my secret garden, can you remember the story we wrote together? Can you make up your own to describe what is through the gate?

We have also been describing the school and going on description walks with Miss Coomber to describe the different rooms and areas. Here we are hard at work....

Big Write session!

Each Thursday, the children take home their 'Big Talk' homework slip and then on Friday morning after playtime, we all have a go at some independent writing called 'Big Write'. The 'Big Write' is about the talk homework the children took home the previous day.

'Big Write' is a relaxed calm and enjoyable writing session, we light out battery powered tealights, listen to relaxing classical music, have our candle on the IWB and our 'Big Write' smell fills the classroom, to get us all in the mood for writing! Here is a look into our session this week...

Counting in 2's, 5's and 10's (and more!)

This week in maths we are counting in 2's 5's and 10's and discussing place value. We have been practising a range of techniques to remember our number patterns, from using counters and cubes, number squares, to using 10p 5p and 2p coins.
Here are a few of us doing a fantastic job! There are some games to play at home below....

Use this number square to splat the patterns while counting in 2's 5's and 10's...you could even try 3's and 4's if you wanted to stretch yourself... 100's Square Splat

Have a go at the dino' place value game, how many tens and units in the number?
