Instructional texts!!

Over the past couple of weeks we have been practising our skills at writing instructions. We have had a go at many activities, writing instructions for our own marvellous medicine, writing instructions for Florence Nightingale and the Scutari hospital, recording our instructions to look after the poorly teddy and lots of other instructions!!

Our learning logs were also to write a set of instructions and I have been so impressed with the skills and range of instructions you have chosen to tell me about! Look out for the photos coming soon!!

How many bossy verbs can you think of?

Recording our instructions to help the poorly teddy...

Making up our game to write instructions for...

A super set of instructions in the making!!

Writing our instructions to make our own cards for the poorly soldiers...

What does the next instruction need to be....

Following our own instructions!

Independent instructions from the model making area...

More recording our instructions...

A super set of instructions!!

Remember that bossy verb!!

Big Write Star of the Week

Nathan

Nathan wrote a fantastic set of instructions. He used bossy verbs, kept each instruction short and clear and numbered them to show order. His handwriting was neat with his letters sat on the line and all a similar size. Well done Nathan!!

George's Marvellous Medicine!

In literacy we are currently developing our instructional text writing skills and this week we are writing instructions to make our own marvellous medicine, following on from reading Roald Dahl's classic, 'George's Marvellous Medicine'.

You can listen to an audio version of the story here...

Can you think of a set of instructions to make your own marvellous medicine? What ingredients would you put into into it?

Can you describe this potion using your VCOP skills?

Remembrance Day

We had a very special assembly today to discuss the importance of remembrance day and help us understand why people wear the Poppy at this time of year. We also joined together for 2 minutes silence to show our  respect.

You can read some information about Remembrance Day in Britain by clicking HERE
On this sight you can listen to a Poppy song, and read lots of interesting information.

You can also play an interactive game from the British Legion to help you understand where our money goes when you buy a Poppy by clicking HERE
