This week in literacy we are going to be using the picture book 'Flotsam' by David Wiesner to encourage imagination and description. It is a fantastic story with lots of opportunity for description and development of own opinion and ideas. You can watch brief introduction for the story here...

The Story Of The Ugly Sharkling

A Story In The Garden...
This afternoon Miss Coomber very kindly oferd to take you all to the school garden to have milk and a story! It was a lovely afternoon and a shame not to be outside!!

World Environment Day! 5th June 2013
This year the theme is Think.Eat.Save and we had an assembly today to think about how we can waste less food and look after our environment by encouraging our grown ups to buy locally produced food and farm shops etc.

Volume, Capacity and Measuring
Next week in maths we are going to be learning about measuring.
We will be working outside in the playground measuring with metre sticks, trundle wheels and tape measures.
We will be working inside measuring volume and capacity with a range of standard and non-standard containers.
We will also be weighing objects using scales and recording the weight of them to compare.
To be able to measure accurately, we need to understand how to read various scales and units of measure. This will be the focus of our activities this week.
Here are some games you can try to get your brain working....

Our End Of SATs Party!
We celebrated the end of a busy and intense half term on Friday with a party! We earnt it and have all worked very hard over the last few weeks!!
We had some party food and then played a few games, dancing and musical statues, here we are enjoying ourselves!!

Year 5's Aztec Exhibition!
On Thursday before we broke up, year 5 offered us the chance to come and view their Aztec exhibition. They showcased everything they had been doing in their topic, and they had also made games that we had the opportunity to play, costumes for us to try on, and information for us to find out about!

Our Fantastic Art Day!!!
Thanks to the wonderful Miss Coomber we all enjoyed a fantastic fun art day today with lots of wonderful activities. It was great fun and we took part in some very creative tasks, and all had such fun after working so hard last week and making Miss Morris so proud!!!
We had a go at some calligraphy with the special pens, made our own board games, developed our individual ideas through seaside sketches and added watercolour to our calligraphy door hangers!!

Say Something Kind
Thanks to our year 4 school councillors, Issy and Lois, we now have a 'Say Something Kind' board in our class. Mrs Warner had this idea in her class and the class councillors have rolled it out across each class now! Whenever we have something kind to say about each other we write it on our 'Say Something Kind' board and then celebrate it together!

PE This Term: Athletics!
This half term we are focusing on athletics on P.E and are developing our throwing skills, both underarm and overarm, our running, jumping and relay. We have been having lots of fun so far and we are displying some fantastic skills already!!!
